However, she has a bad tendency to chew gum a lot, whether on or off duty, and thus earning her the nickname"Chewy". Kaeda is also hard to provoke into an argument or a fight. However, when she’s had it and she’s angry, she is angry and it takes a while for that anger to die down. Note: Kaeda has a thick Aerilon accent. | |

| Personal History | Kaeda grew up in a very poor farming family in Aerilon. They were so poor that her mother, Aleen, died of complications brought about by malnutrition while trying to give birth to her and her twin sister, Nekah. Her father remarried to a greedy woman that kept the best food for herself and served the cheapest and ordinary foods to her stepchildren. Sometimes, it would go on for days at a time when the children wouldn’t receive any food at all and the stepmother would blame it all on the very meager income that their father makes. At the tender age of ten, Kaeda already got herself into trouble with petty theft of food for her siblings and herself, which steadily increased her disdain for authority figures, such as her stepmother and most especially the police or any militaristic branch of the Colonial government. With the food that she got from her petty thievery and from their stepmother, she learned to ration them into smaller portions to last longer periods of time. Unfortunately, her stepmother had a very nasty temper as well and when upset by Kaeda’s actions, decided to punish her by lashings. Their father knew nothing of this as the stepmother threatened to kill them if they did. Things went from bad to worse when their father died of an accident while trying to sell their produce in Gaoth (capital city of Aerilon). The stepmother sent the Sodrika children to do different odd jobs in order to maintain or improve her standard of living. Kamotte worked in the market as a porter who carried goods to and fro into different shops and customers while Kaeda and Nekah were stuck cleaning poultry and bovine meat that had just recently come from the slaughterhouses. Fed up with the beatings and lashings and the hard labor, Kaeda urged her siblings to run away with her. Nekah refused, as she was the exact emotional opposite of Kaeda, because of her fear of retaliation from their stepmother. Kamotte also refused with the reasoning that life outside of Aerilon can be worse than what they had now given they were uneducated and poor. At the age of twelve, Kaeda stowed away in a small cargo vessel that had landed on Gaoth to pick-up produce and supplies for deliveries. To her surprise, this shuttle was but a smaller vessel for the cargo transport ship, Kamaru. The pilot of the shuttle, Talen Wicks, found her and urged the Captain several times to let her keep the child. In the four years, Kaeda lived in the Kamaru as a member of the crew and worked harder than anyone else. She helped out in the loading and unloading of the cargo in the shuttles as well as made sure that the inventories in their shuttle was properly accounted for. From Wicks, she learned how to read and count and when she was sixteen years old, started learning how to fly the cargo shuttles by watching Wicks on the controls. When Kaeda was eighteen, Wicks died of lung cancer and she (Kaeda) urged the captain to let her take over Wicks’ duties as pilot of the latter’s shuttle. After much consideration, the captain agreed and Kaeda has been flying one of the cargo shuttles of the Kamaru since then. The Captain was very much by Kaeda’s dedication and work ethic that he also allowed Kaeda, twenty years of age at that time, to take shifts piloting the Kamaru when not on delivery runs with her shuttle. | |
