Biographical Notes

Family and Background: Alexandra Munro is the daughter of Joseph and Clarisse Munro. She was the youngest of seven children. Although the Munro's were originally from Sol III, Joseph and Clarisse raised all of their seven children in the Federation colony in the Zugbu system, Zugbu Prime.

Alex underwent a very difficult childhood due to her condition. Although her family had accepted it, it was the people outside her home that she had to contend with painfully everyday. She was bullied until her high school years.
It was an event during the Spring dance that Alex was humiliated by two bullies. It was during that time that people started focusing more on her disability and/or laughing at it. Because of this, she ran away from home and stowed away on a ship bound for the Seventh planet of the T'ahleesai System. It was there she started anew and enrolled at the T'ahleesai Medical Academy (which was situated somewhere in the Gamma Quadrant) to major in Basic Medicine and Nursing care.

After she graduated from this course, she returned to the Alpha Quadrant and she signed up in Starfleet and was assigned to the USS Silverstone, following her older sister's footsteps.  After her time in the USS Silverstone, she felt as though that her past still wasn't far enough.  She requested transfer to one of the ships in Far Point Fleet and was assigned to the USS Ranger, a Defiant-class battlecruiser.

On one of the missions of the USS Ranger, Alex met her husband-to-be, Camber Daphos, after he got injured in a mission accident.  Several missions after this, Camber's remarkable ability to be "accident prone" proved to draw these two together.  Not only that, the fact that Camber was the only one to look beyond her exceptionality (her deafness).  Although career-wise, things were going great.  Relationship-wise, it has been a rollercoaster for the both of them, especially for Alex. She found the interference of her mother in her relationship with Camber.  They eventually tied the knot on the 30th of October 2385 at Starbase 25 with their family as witnesses.

Their daughter from the future, Cassandra, was introduced to them just several days before the wedding after being caught by the rescue team out to find Admiral Mirtoh.  At first they were unsure of Cassie and her existence in this timeline.  But it was Alex who first accepted their future daughter as she is and is pretty much comfortable of her presence.

Medical History: Alex was diagnosed with a rare degenerative auditory disease at the age of five, which impaired her ability to hear. As the years rogressed, her condition worsened, leaving her totally deaf and unable to communicate with the rest of her family. Because her disease cannot be cured, she was forced to use a combination of ancient methods of communication for the deaf Sign Language and speechreading.

It was up until she reached her sophomore year in high school that she was given the chance to be as normal as she can be. An experimental method of treating, or compensating for her disease was found. This method was called VOICE (Virtual Ossicular Vibration Interpreter and Communication Enunciator for Hand Signs). Since she cannot hear, her ears were surgically implanted with a device that would act the same way as the ancient hearing aid. Only this time, this device would discriminate sounds, and can be adjusted to her preference.

The sound waves captured by the device are then converted to the appropriate sounds that is of the same quality as that of the normal hearing ear.

Since she became deaf at an early age, she doesn't know how to speak. This is the reason why her arms have also been embedded with sensory devices that would automatically voice out what she is signing. The voice that comes out of her is the approximated voice that she might produce when speaking.


Physiological Profile: Due to her condition, she is very sensitive towards the people around her. She is also always on guard, which is the reason why no one should surprise her from behind, since she has this instinct of immediately defending herself from anything that might hurt her both emotionally or physically.

She also has a tendency to be stubborn and has a quick temper. But she doesn't hold a grudge at anyone. She is also projects an easy-going aura when she is among friends, yet projects an irritable and impatient manner when she is among strangers. This is her psychological defense mechanism to stop herself from getting hurt by insults or by insensitive people.

She is very picky when choosing her friends and she has the tendency to be a loner by nature. This is brought about by her disability.
